South China Restaurant - Fort Collins CO

January 23, 2014

I have been to South China restaurant on many occasions dating back to when they were in Windsor. I don't really remember too much about when they were in Windsor because I was kind of young. But we've been going there since then. After they moved to Ft. Collins we went a couple times but it wasn't until I was in college in Fort Collins that I started going more often.

I met a couple of friends here for lunch around noon. Since we were talking and one had already ordered I don't really remember all the details from lunch like how long we waited and such. But when our waitress came to take my order I ordered the cashew chicken which came with my choice of fried or steamed rice and hot and sour soup or egg drop soup. I chose fried rice and egg drop soup Along with this came an egg roll. One of my friends ordered the sweet-and-sour pork and hot and sour soup and the other a large bowl of egg drop soup and boy was it large and egg rolls. At some point our food all came out.

The egg drop soup so good this is my favorite place to get it anywhere. The Soup is filled with cabbage and egg and some thin noodles. This comes with little fried wontons.

My cashew chicken was pretty good, not the best Chinese food item I've ever had but it was good. I'm not sure what was in the sauce along with chicken and celery, onions, carrots and cashews of course. The fried Rice served with this I think is just steamed rice with egg. The egg roll was also good. Both of my friends seemed to like the meals as well.

After we were done eating we got our fortune cookies I opened mine and realized I had no fortune in my cookie. So I had to get a replacement. I opened the replacement and read my fortune and go ahead and add the in bed part. You will sleep very well tonight.

In past visits I have had the Szechuan Chicken which I think is my favorite

I've also had the Chicken with Garlic Sauce and Ming’s Spicy Chicken (their version of General Tso’s) as well as others.

I don't however like their Kung Pao Chicken. Kung Pao Chicken is usually my favorite item but not here it is too sweet for me, but it's good because it gave me the chance to try some of their other items that I may not have otherwise tried that are very good.

Stuft A Burger Bar - Windsor, CO

A friend and I stopped in for a late lunch at about 1:30. There were still a handful of tables that were occupied. On the table were menus that you fill out with what you want on your burger and what to go with it. Since we've been here before we didn’t need anything explained, so our waitress just took our drink orders. First thing I did was find the fried pickles on the menu and mark that, then I went on building my burger. Every time I've been here I think I should make some crazy burger combination but when I get down to it usually comes out fairly normal. You get your choice of burger type, bun type cheese, up to four toppings that are included. You can pay more if you want more toppings and for specialty toppings. Also you get a choice of sauce which comes on the side. This time I decided to get a third pound beef burger cooked medium well. With smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles along with thousand island which I actually didn't even put on my burger. After filling out the forms our waitress took them and I made sure she knew about the fried pickles appetizer that I ordered since it was on the backside of the form.

After a few minutes out came the fried pickles ($5.99) these came with chipotle ranch. I took one right away and it was very hot and I think I burnt my mouth, I should've known it’d be really hot right out of the fryer but sometimes I'm not that smart. These were really good, I shared a few with my friend who had never had them before, and he thought they were really good also.  I shared a few with him but that's all I let him have because they were so good and the chipotle ranch was very good too and had a bit of a kick to it. I'm not sure if they were worth $5.99 but I would get them again. Once I was done with these our waitress came back and picked the empty dish up, but asked if I want to keep the ranch for my burger I figured sure why not. Soon after this our burgers were brought out.

This burger was really good and kind of salty and some sort of seasoning and tasted really good and although I think it was cooked a little less than medium well it was still really good. I really enjoyed the smoked cheddar and the caramelized onions together on the burger this was really good and the lettuce, tomato and pickles were just that. The pickles were kind of disappointing after eating the fried version. It is kind of surprising that they don't offer fried pickles as a burger topping. I can't exactly remember what my friend had but it looked good and I think he enjoyed it. I tried a few of his fries and I didn't care for them too much, they are the thin cut ones which I am not a big fan of.

Next time I might actually make a crazy burger combination or just go basic again but either way I'm sure will be very good again.
