Chili House - Fort Collins Colorado

8/26/2014

On a Tuesday dad and I decided to stop in for lunch. We got here about 12:30 and the place wasn't very busy at all. So we were seated right away. Pretty quickly our waiter was there to take our drink orders which were both Cokes ($2.19). When he returned and brought the drinks he said he would be back in a few to take our order unless we were ready. I already knew I wanted to try out the Kung Pao chicken since that's one of my favorites and dad figured out what he wanted too so we were ready. So the Kung Pao chicken is what I ordered and dad ordered the Mongolian beef, we both got egg drop soup as our soup choice. I don't know what other choices we had because the lunch menu just said your choice of soup.

Soon after ordering our soup was brought out. This was a chicken-based soup like you would expect an egg drop soup to be, and a good amount of egg in there.  This I thought was just okay tasting and after eating for a while I realized there was something else in  there and it was corn which I thought was a little odd and I don't think it helped the soup too much.

Before I was even done with my soup out came the entrées. They were served on a big plastic tray type thing. The Kung Pao chicken tasted okay, but there was plenty that I didn't like about it. The sauce tasted good and there was a ton of it really, I thought too much. Also there was a ton of vegetables and I think they found all the vegetables I don't particularly like; water chestnuts, little corncobs and zucchini. I did like the chicken in the entrée it seemed like better quality meat than a lot of Chinese places. Also served with this was a large portion of Rice and an eggroll.  The egg roll was just that and not to exciting.

Dad thought his Mongolian beef was okay but wasn't too excited about it. Once we finished up the bill was delivered along with two fortune cookies. Once we paid we were on our way filled with Chinese food, but not exactly the best but we were filled.
