Palomino Mexican restaurant Loveland Colorado

January 17, 2015

The godfather and his two sons and grandson wanted to buy me lunch for my birthday at my choice of place.  This time I picked Palomino Mexican restaurant.  When the godfather and I arrived ahead of the others at around noon there were really not many people inside. I ordered a Coke and chips and salsa were also brought to our table while we waited. Shortly after everyone else arrived. I already had a little bit of an idea of what I wanted but wasn’t exactly sure. Before our meal we ordered guacamole as well.

I thought the salsa was very good and the chips I really didn’t like them as much but I suppose they were all right.

The guacamole tasted pretty good as well but everyone’s biggest complaint was there was lettuce underneath which made a little difficult to dip your chip in. A little bit after this our waitress came back to see if we were ready to order. But we hadn’t even looked at our menu yet. We were having a sports talk, which sports is the one thing that can distract me from food.  So we decided we better check out the menu and I decided on the cheesy Palomino burrito. Which was a bean and steak burrito with a cheese enchilada inside. When I pointed that out to the godfather that that’s what I was getting he decided to as well. The others had some sort of combo plate and some sort of tacos. After ordering we had some more time to get back to our sports talk and a bit later our food arrived

This burrito was quite tasty and was really a brilliant idea. Although it could’ve been better, I didn’t think it had enough enchilada sauce and not all the cheese on top was melted. But other than those things I thought it was very delicious with the green chili mixed with the beans and cheese and everything else for that matter.

Following this many of the staff came out singing feliz cumpleaƱos and brought out piece of ice cream cake which was pretty good, very cold, but good. this was a good way to finish off my birthday lunch. And we were ready to head out, me with still half of a burrito for later.

Our most popular Steakburger! Two hot-off-the-grill Steakburgers with American cheese on a toasted bun and your choice of toppings. Served with fries.
Toppings
American cheese, Lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, ketchup, mustard and mayo
This had two really thin patties and one slice of cheese in between.  This was a decent burger but pretty much just about the best of fast food burgers and not much more than that. Everything in it was pretty basic not anything too exciting and the tomato was hard.

Menu Description
American cheese, smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on an egg bun
Toppings
American cheese, smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on an egg bun
This burger was by far better than Steak and Shake.  The burger was bigger and had better flavor and on top of that there were good quality toppings and more of them in fact I think the onion was a whole slice as well as good lettuce, tomato and pickles. It was hard to eat though with the lettuce having most of the sauce on it. This along with it being very greasy made it so you can easily make a mess if part if the lettuce comes out or the bun slips off which happened to me.

The Smash Burger burger was by far a better burger in just about every category.  Steak n Shake was cheaper, but you also didn’t get as much food.
