Bann Thai - Fort Collins Colorado

Mom and I were in Fort Collins and thought Thai food sounded good so we stopped in at Bann Thai.  We were seated right away and when our waiter returned, he was also who seated us, he recognized us from another Thai restaurant that we’ve been to a few times he said he works at both. Then he took our orders mom ordered the pad Thai and I ordered the drunken noodles, which I’ve never had before but wanted to try.  I added a salad and an egg roll for a dollar more. I also ordered a Pepsi which I don’t know if this is just how it is, but I never have had at a Thai restaurant my drink order been taken ahead of time it’s always been with the food order. Very quickly after he left he was back with my Pepsi and the salad.

The salad was just lettuce and shredded carrots with a peanut dressing, the dressing I thought was actually pretty good. But only a few bites in into salad the entrées arrived and I felt a bit rushed. Once I was done with the salad I started into my drunken noodles.

I thought the noodles were kind of bland. I probably could’ve ordered it with more heat and I might’ve helped but I’m not so sure if it would have.  I also didn’t like some of the veggies there seemed to be a ton of red and green peppers. I can handle some of these but not that many.  One piece of the basil was a stem with multiple leaves on it which was too much basil for one bite I did however like the broccoli and carrots. Also the chicken was all right as well. The egg roll when I eventually got to it was kind of mushy and soggy inside.  This might’ve had to do with how long it sat there, but it still didn’t taste all that good. So after we were done I took my left over noodles and figured I might eat them eventually, but never really felt like it so I didn’t. Mom wasn’t too excited about her pad Thai either. Recently I’ve been getting more and more into Thai food, but this one I just didn’t think was all that good.

Toppings American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and sauce
This was a small and thin burger I would guess 1/4 pound. But was cooked perfectly and had a little pink here and there. This is what I think you should get when you think of a great burger.  The toppings were good which was lettuce tomato pickles and diced onions and a thousand island like sauce.  Excellent burger with great flavor juicy and greasy.   fries were thin cut and I was surprised at how much I liked them.  This was at a very good price of 7.99 for a combo with fries and a drink.

Place Choice City Butcher & Deli
Location Fort Collins, Colorado
Burger Ordered Classic Burger
Size 1/2 pound
Price $10.75 comes with side and drink
With Balsalmic Potato Salad
Price included
Total Price $10.75
Menu Description Classic Burger american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo, mustard, ketchup
Toppings american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayo, mustard, ketchup
This was a good sized burger that was very good, it was maybe a little dry here and there.  The toppings were good and I thought the pickles were especially good, and if that wasn’t enough pickles there was a pickle spear on the side.  I did think that they got a little carried away with the mayo, mustard and ketchup.  The downsides weren't so much with the burger, they were the wait it took forever to get our food and they dont have french fries, so I got balsamic potato salad, which i didn't care for

These were two of the best burgers in the bracket, but unfortunately the were going head to head in the first round.   The burger at Big Als was smaller, but I thought a little better tasting but not by much.  The toppings were better at choice city and i really liked their pickles.  I liked the fries at Big Als very much while i didnt care for the potato salad at choice city.  Also when having a burger I would really prefer to have fries, so big als wins that.  So overall  I prefered Big Als although it was very close. So basically these came down to just my preference but a great burger can be found at either one of these places.
