Pueblo Viejo Windsor Colorado

November 3, 2014

I visited this place previously a few times but have never written a review. This was a chilly day and a nice hot plate of Mexican food sounded like the thing I needed. So dad and I stopped in for lunch probably around 12:30. There were a good amount tables that were taken when we arrived and a few more people came in while we were there. Right away chips and salsa and a bean dip along with waters were delivered to our table. I already pretty much knew what I wanted so didn't take me too long to figure out what I wanted. In just a bit our waiter arrived who was also the guy who seated us when we came in. He asked what we would like to drink and we both decided to get a Coke.
After a bit our waiter returned to see if we were ready to order which I definitely was and dad was too. I decided to get the number 13 combo ($8.50) which was a chile relleno and either a tamale or enchilada. I picked the cheese enchilada along with a crispy relleno. Dad got the number 17 combo which also happened to be the days special which was an enchilada and a chimichanga for ($8.75 normally $9.50). He chose a beef chimichanga and a cheese enchilada.

Once we ordered I was ready to enjoy my chips and salsa. There were a ton chips in the basket and we didn't really come that close to finishing them. The salsa was pretty good and fresh tasting and full of chunks. The bean dip on the other hand I thought was nothing too special just a bean dip. In a short amount of time after this our plates arrived with the normal warning of the plates are hot.

Both of these combos came with rice and beans which I didn't think either were to exciting, pretty basic beans and rice. My chile relleno was pretty good it was crispy and was the eggroll type which  always make, I think a decent chile relleno. There was a bit of chili on top with chunks of pork. The enchilada was filled with cheese and I thought it was pretty good. Overall I thought my meal was good and probably just a bit better than average. Dad Thought his was a little bit better he had the same cheese enchilada which he liked and a beef chimichanga and I think they both had a red chili over them and the chimichanga had guacamole and sour cream on top. He very much enjoyed his meal. Soon after someone came to take our plates away and I had to have a couple more chips and salsa to make sure it was still good. Right after our waiter was back with the check and once we paid for a not too bad of a meal we were headed back out to the chilly weather. Our waiter/hostess saw us headed for the door and he got to the door and held it for us on the way out.

Wing shack - Windsor Colorado

October 24, 2014

After my dad and I took a walk around Windsor Lake we were hungry for chicken wings. When we arrived for a late lunch there were still quite a few booths actually that we were still full. When we went to the counter no one was there and we had to wait for quite a while till they realized we were there. But once the guy came out he apologized and he quickly took our order I ordered the regular wing lunch special with hot garlic sauce, for my choice of side I picked chips with garlic seasoning. Along with ranch and celery.  Dad ordered the boneless wing lunch special with hot garlic sauce and he got French fries and blue cheese. After we ordered the guy said it would be 10 to 15 minutes for our wings. For $7.99 our combos also came with drinks so after filling the drinks we picked a nice booth next to a window. Then in probably 10 to 15 minutes our food was delivered.

The wings were kind of on the small side of wings but were very good they were a little crisp and covered with a good amount of sauce and maybe a little too much sauce as some of the wings were laying in the sauce and had too much. This very good tasting sauce though with chunks of garlic, but was a little on the hot side.

I also really enjoyed the chips with the garlic seasoning. They were fresh fried chips with the seasoning sprinkled on which made them fairly salty and garlicky. And I thought they were best when dipped in the ranch dressing. The celery I didn't end up eating mostly because I was already full and it didn't look so good  either. Dad liked his boneless wings very much as well but he was wondering when we left about which sauce was one level down in heat. His French fries were regular crinkle cut fries and he didn't say much about them. We spent quite a bit a time eating since it takes me forever to eat wings, so we were there quite a while.  Once we were done eating, I had wing sauce all over my face and hands, but they had wet naps so after I cleaned up and were ready to go. Once we left probably about two thirty there was only one other booth that was occupied. As we left I felt like I ate too much, but also thought this was a very good value for lunch at $7.99 for ten wings, a side and a drink.  We were very happy with our lunch.

What’s for Lunch Steak n Shake - Greeley, CO

This was $4 The Original Double 'n Cheese combo which came with fries.  This was a good burger that had 2 thin burger patties and cheese.  This was very similar to Freddy’s.
