Tavern on the Green Grill at Highland Meadows - Windsor CO

My godmother suggested that I check this place out which is at the Highland Meadows golf course.   It is not really marked all that well, but the golfers would know about it.  Mom and I stopped in for lunch. There was bar seating and six tables in the one section and a few tables in the other section.  We were told to sit where we would like, so I picked a table with a good view of the large tv showing Sportscenter.  Our waitress right away came and took our drink orders both cokes.  Then we had some time to look through the menu, which didn’t take too long since the menu was fairly small, with mostly sandwiches and burgers.  Quickly I cut it down to 2 choices the club sandwich or a French dip.  When our waitress returned I ordered the club sandwich ($9), and mom got the grilled turkey sandwich.  So we sat and waited, while checking out the view onto the golf course, and I of course kept an eye on sportscenter. After a while our food was brought out and looked very good.

My club sandwich was rather large and I wasn’t sure how to attack it. But once each half was cut in half it was manageable.  This sandwich consisted of a ciabatta roll that was grilled with I think basil mayo, which was a nice addition, along with ham, turkey, cheddar,  Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato.  What made this a better than your basic club sandwich was the grilled ciabatta bread, which was just better than the basic bread you typically get.  The bacon was also really good and crispy.  Along with this came with a choice of side, I chose fries which were hot, crispy and salty and the best I’ve had in a while and the longest fries I’ve seen.

Mom enjoyed her grilled turkey sandwich as well, it was similar to mine, but the turkey was grilled and had avocado instead of cheese and ham.  Mom also commented on how good the fries were.  Throughout our meal golfers were in and out, and I think we were the only non-golfers in the place for most of the time.  That morning I woke up not even knowing of this place and there wasn’t much online either, but despite this I had a very successful lunch.
