Cazadores Mexican restaurant - Greeley Colorado

 August 4, 2017

My mom and I were headed to the Rockies dugout store in Greeley and we stopped here for lunch first, which is a couple doors down from the dugout store. It was close to 1 PM when we arrived and it was mostly empty, but there were a few tables taken. We were seated quickly and saw the menu special board upfront which was a poblano pepper stuffed with cheese and fried ($8.99). We were brought chips and salsa and we had time to look over the regular menu.  After a while we both thought the special sounded good so that's what we both decided to get. Also we did have a coupon but the waiter said it didn't work on the specials.

The salsa was very good and was a bit hot, but also was a bit runny and the chips to go along with us were pretty good as well. After we waited and enjoyed the chips and salsa our food arrived.

This was basically a soft Chile relleno with a poblano chili instead of an Anaheim type chili. I don't usually prefer soft Chile rellenos, but it was still pretty good.  I think I would have preferred a different entrĂ©e though. I thought the rice and beans were pretty good and better than most places. With what I had on this trip I would give Cazadores a four star rating, but may possibly upgrade it to a five if I had something else.

Cafe De’ Bangkok - Fort Collins Colorado

August 1, 2017

I met a friend here for lunch at 11:30-ish.   After we took a look at the menu for a little bit I decided to order the chicken ginger ($9.75) with medium heat level   plus a Pepsi ($1.50).

In a bit after we ordered our food arrived I thought this was an alright stir-fry.  My first bite had a large amount of cilantro and it took a couple bites until I found the ginger and then I definitely found it. There was a good amount of strips of ginger which made this dish very gingery. This also had mushrooms, red and green peppers and onions and a sauce that was kind of runny and along with this with a side of rice. During our lunch we had very good service from multiple of the wait staff and they always made sure refill our drinks and did a great job and when we were all done they brought two small boxes one for my chicken ginger since it was kind of runny and soupy and one for the rice.  I thought my lunch at CafĂ© de Bangkok was alright but not much more than that and there are a couple other Thai places I would rather eat at in Fort Collins, but this was still and alright place for Thai food.

What’s for Lunch: Sri Thai - Fort Collins Colorado

June 13, 2017

I had the Woon Sen ($8.25) with chicken from the lunch menu which also includes a cup of soup.   The Woon Sen has mung bean noodles that are clear. Along with that was egg, plenty of veggies including bean sprouts, carrots, cabbage and pea pods as well as a delicious sauce.  All the veggies seemed fresh and better quality than most Asian places around.  After having this I can’t wait to return.

Huang garden – Johnstown Colorado

May 24, 2017

My dad and I happened to be near Johnstown on this day so we figured we’d stop in for lunch. When we arrived all the tables were full, there were some booths on the other side of the restaurant that were open but we needed a table. However all the tables that were full were just getting ready to leave, so after we waited a bit, they cleaned the tables off. Once there was a place for us our waitress actually took our drink orders on our way to the table which we both ordered a Coke. Once we got to our table it was still a little bit wet from them wiping it off so my menu kind of stuck down to the table a bit. Eventually our waitress was back with our drinks and to take our lunch orders. We both decided to get the lunch Kung pao chicken with egg drop soup and fried rice ($7.25).

Soon after this our egg drop soups arrived with a basket of fried wonton strips and sweet-and-sour sauce and was asked if we needed any hot mustard which I sure didn’t want any. The egg drop soup had eggs whisked in the chicken broth which all tasted pretty good except for there being a good amount of green peas in my dish I ate about half of them probably, but there were still plenty in the bottom of my dish. My dad also had the egg drop soup but he didn’t have any peas in his just one little carrot. The wonton strips were pretty basic. I dipped one in the sweet-and-sour sauce and I’m not sure what was with the sweet-and-sour sauce but I didn’t care for it too much.

Just before I was done eating my soup our entrĂ©es arrived on a plate with an egg roll and a crab cheese wonton. The chicken meat in my Kung pao chicken was decent just a couple of tough spots here and there. I thought the sauce tasted quite good, but I didn’t like some of the vegetables like the water chestnuts, red peppers and quite a lot of zucchini. I didn’t think the zucchini was too bad, but my dad didn’t like it at all. Also in there were hot peppers and plenty of peanuts. The egg roll had a nice outside wrapper but the veggies inside especially the cabbage was quite a bit tough and hard to chew. The fried crab cheese wonton was all right and pretty basic. The fried rice was also pretty basic for fried rice no veggies or anything just a little bit of egg. The lunch special was a decent price but it didn’t seem like the portions were all that big, because usually at Chinese places even for lunch I often need a box but here I didn’t.

Georgia Boy’s barbecue – Frederick Colorado

April 30, 2017

This was my first trip to Frederick for let’s do lunch Northern Colorado. We met the rest of the family here since it is about halfway to Denver. When we arrived the streets around the place were empty so there was plenty of places to park on the street and we ended up parking right in front. We had let them know ahead of time that we were coming so they already had the table for six of us already set up. Just like the town, the inside of the restaurant was completely empty, but while we ate and about the time we were leaving the place was starting to fill up a little bit more. Pretty quickly our waitress was there to take our drink orders and then we had time to look over the menu. Pretty quickly I decided on the burnt ends because for me it’s hard to pass up burnt ends when they’re on the menu.  After a while when our waitress was back we ordered.  I ordered the burnt ends and all the meals came with two sides I chose fried okra for a dollar extra and French fries.

Everyone else ordered various other barbecue meats brisket, ribs, pulled pork, turkey and various side dishes. They had three sauces sitting on the table one being the original, a mop sauce and a ghost chili sauce. I along with my brother-in-law were both kind of excited about trying the ghost chili sauce. Pretty soon our food arrived on little metal trays lined with paper. With the meat topped with a piece of Texas toast along with the side dishes.

My burnt ends were excellent. They were bigger than most burnt ends I remember eating and they were basically falling apart. They were seasoned well and were a bit salty. With this I tested out the barbecue sauces although the meat was great without them. The original was a pretty good sauce and pretty basic. The ghost chili sauce I thought was very good and had some good heat to it and it grew with time. The mop sauce was a vinegary sauce and it had a bit of a kick to it as well. I’m not sure which of the sauces I liked the best, but they were all pretty good and were all three quite different from each other. This was the excellent part, the part that wasn’t so good were the side dishes my fried okra was the best of my sides they tasted all right but they were a bit hard especially the little pieces. The fries were really not so good and were pretty soggy and nobody that ordered them really liked them. Also nobody liked their mac & cheese, it had kind of a runny and watery cheese sauce and didn’t look very good to me.

I thought Georgia Boys barbecue had excellent smoked meat and pretty good barbecue sauces to go with it, but everything else the; sides, the amount of food I got didn’t seem like as much is some other barbecue places and the price was a bit higher than some other barbecue places around. But I would definitely return just for the burnt ends and maybe some of their other meats.

Otto Pint Pizzeria– Fort Collins Colorado

March 30, 2017

I met a friend here for lunch, we arrived at about 11 o’clock just as they were opening. We tried to go in the door we thought was the main door but there was a sign that said please use East door. When we entered that door there was a sign that said seat yourself so we did. We picked a nice table but it was right by one of their open garage doors for the patio so there was cold air coming in. Right after we sat down our waitress arrived with menus and took our drink orders. The menus were the ones you fill out for the build your own pizzas which start at $6.50. We sat for a while trying to fill out our forms. After a while I finally made my decision and our waitress returned with our drinks and took our filled out forms and we also asked her if she could shut the open door which she did. Soon after this another waitress came over and introduced herself and said the other waitress wasn’t feeling good and left. So she would be taking care of us the rest of the time. A bit after this our new waitress delivered our pizzas.

This pizza had a really thin cracker like crust. On mine I picked regular sauce, the mozzarella that already comes standard along with bacon (two dollars) mushrooms and red onions (one dollar each). The sauce almost tasted like a salsa type thing but without peppers or anything spicy and I thought it was all right although a little different than a lot of places. The toppings were all right but not anything real special. These pizzas were 12 inches and were cut into six slices after I ate four of the slices and I was pretty much full so I needed a box and so did my friend for his. I don’t think he was really excited about his pizza but I think he thought it was all right. Also the pizzas happened to be buy one get one half off which I thought made lunch very good value.

I think Otto Pint was just about average they have decent pizza with quite a few options and I probably would return someday.
